What I did
During my month long internship, my days varied heavily from one another. But that's just part of the job! Some days I was out patrolling with my fellow coworkers and cleaning up trash cans and trails. Then other days I was filing paper work and learning about CEQA all while making over 400 copies of different types of informational papers. When went onto our 70 miles worth of trails I helped take out invasive plants, rake up after our lovely Dust Devils the best volunteer group, and taking in the natural beauty of the land that I help keep clean. When I was doing in office jobs I was taking it all in and learning what system they use that being Microsoft. Other office work that I did was learning different parts of CEQA and what work needs to go into the creation of new trails. Overall my daily tasks and my day-to-day life changed a whole lot due to the many responsibilities of the SDRP. What I have accomplished from all of this is a better understanding of the duties of open-space rangers and what this job consist of. I have gained a professional set of skills for my level of work. Some other skills I have gained were better people person skills, becoming a better tool user, open space ranger skills, different techniques, learning about CEQA and the amount of work that goes into making projects, then finally how professional office spaces work.

ReflectingMy internship project I admit wasn't really my main goal going into my internship, but more of a stepping stone for it. For those who do not know my internship project was making a short video on what land management is and some other key factors about it. But my real goal for internship, rather than my project, was seeing if this is the kind of work I wanna pursue in my future. Now from doing this internship I have realized that I do wanna peruse this type of work in my future! Now how does this all relate to my internship project? Well since I am talking about land management in my video, I had to learn a lot about the ranger's job is and what they do. So from this I was able to get a better idea on if I wanna do this kind of work in my future, therefore my project was a stepping stone. But thinking back on the project, it wasn't as fun as I hoped it to be and I wish I did something else for a final product or maybe planned a bit more ahead.

My future plansAs I have hinted before, I plan on pursuing the type of work as a ranger, but more so as an environmental scientist! This is all thanks to me taking the internship which allowed me to really make this final decision. If I didn't have the chance to do something so awesome I think I would still be looking at other choices. But my internship impacts me by making me want to go to college, mainly UC Davis due to what I have heard of them having a good environmental programs for education. I hope me having this introduction of an internship at a young age will help me find more exiting pathways all relating to the environment and it's protection.
